We are delighted to announce that Callum Cowan has signed his first professional contract at the club.

The 16-year-old central defender, who joined the club’s Scholarship Programme back in September, has settled into life at Inver Park very well, playing regularly with the U18 and U20 NIFL squad and playing a big role in winning the Harry Cavan Youth Cup for just the second time in the club’s history.

Although yet to make his first team debut for the Invermen, Cowan has spent time training with Tiernan Lynch’s squad throughout the season and has been part of the travelling squad to some of the matches, getting the experience of being in and around the first team environment at the club.

On the international stage, Cowan has been a regular for Northern Ireland from U15-17 level, competing in competitions such as the Victory Shield, Rotterdam Tournament and the Nordic Cup.

Speaking on signing his professional contract, Callum said:

“It’s a proud moment for me and my family, this is what I’ve worked hard for since I started playing football.

“Since joining the club in September, I’ve been delighted with how I have developed and progressed. Winning the Harry Cavan Youth Cup was a great moment, alongside training with the first team so it’s been a really good season for me personally.

“The hard work begins now, I want to try and make it on to the bench for the first team next season and hopefully make a few appearances if possible towards the end of the season or in the cup competitions.”
