Brighter Futures hand out £20,000 in grants

LARNE Football Club is delighted to announce that its official charity Brighter Futures has now awarded the first tranche of grants to local businesses, voluntary bodies and individuals, following the initial application window during the month of February 2020.

Almost £20,000 in grants was gifted to 15 different groups and individuals, all having successfully completed the thorough application process at the beginning of the year. The process involved the submission of a detailed pro-forma, outlining what the funding would be used for and the benefits to the individual or organisation concerned, plus face-to-face interviews.

Unfortunately, as with a lot of initiatives, the grants awards process was delayed by several months because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Trustees of Brighter Futures were thus delighted to finally hold the presentations to grant recipients at the beginning of July.

Speaking on the night of the presentations, Chairman of the Brighter Futures Charity, Gregg Humphrey said: “The Trustees of Brighter Futures are delighted to announce that the first round of charity grants have been awarded to worthy recipients in the Larne area. We hope that these grants will support those diverse organisations and individuals to further develop their sporting, educational, entrepreneurial and business goals in the future.”

Those involved with the charity were delighted with the high number and the quality of submissions, during this inaugural, pilot application window. The Trustees had the difficult task of whittling down the requests, all of which were judged against defined criteria.

They would like to take this opportunity to thank all applicants for the time taken to apply for funding and for their patience during these most trying of times.

A full list of beneficiaries can be found below.

Please note that another application window will be opened later this year, so potential applicants are advised to keep an eye on our social media (Twitter, Facebook) and our website www.larnefc.com/brighterfutures for more information.
