Brighter Futures & first team squad back toy appeals

Larne Football Club, in partnership with the Brighter Futures Fund is delighted to have supported several local charities this year with their Christmas Gift Appeal.

The first team players purchased gifts for ‘The Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul Christmas Family Appeal’ and the Brighter Futures Fund supported Women’s Aid ABCLN with their ‘Make it Magical’ campaign.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the club decided to take a new approach to the collection this year. Instead of asking their supporters and the local community to kindly donate items, gifts, toys and other goods were purchased by both the football players personally and through funds previously raised by Brighter Futures. Not only did this concept help to eliminate the risk of infection across the community, it also reduced the pressure on the people of Larne who may be struggling in more ways than one this Christmas.

Sandara Kelso-Robb MBE, Brighter Futures Strategic Advisor said: “It was such a privilege to be able to continue supporting local people in need with our Christmas Toy and Gift Drive. Between the players, staff and the Brighter Futures Fund, a large variety of games, books, toys and gifts, for distribution to people of all ages, were given to the Salvation Army, St Vincent De Paul and Women’s Aid ABCLN. We hope it lets people know that we’re thinking about them at what can be a difficult time of year normally and particularly so this year.”

Brighter Futures Fund, supported by Larne Football Club, is a vehicle for development, regeneration and support within the Larne community that encourages everyone to improve their health and well-being through the provision of access to first class sporting and recreational facilities, grants and other charitable resources.
