We can confirm Lee Bonis has completed his move to ADO Den Haag for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old striker leaves Inver Park after an impressive two and a half years at the club, where he picked up three County Antrim Shield wins, two Premiership titles and lead the club in European competition on three occasions.
In the end, his final appearance in a Larne shirt came in Thursday’s Conference League 1-0 victory away to FC Ballkani, where he played a significant role, including an assist for Matty Lusty’s 89th minute winner.
The former Portadown striker was the club’s top goalscorer in the 2022/23 season, in which Larne claimed a first ever Gibson Cup victory. He also scored the club’s first Champions League goal, against HJK Helsinki in July 2023.
As well achievements at club level, Lee was also capped for Northern Ireland under-21’s and called into Michael O’Neill’s senior squad during his time at Inver Park.
All in all, he scored 58 goals in 118 appearances for Larne, having made 99 starts for Tiernan Lynch’s side, as he makes his way to the Dutch Eerste Divisie for a new chapter in his career.
Boss Tiernan Lynch said: “Lee goes with our very best wishes, having played a major role in the success we enjoyed in recent years.
“He settled at the club straight away and gave us a new dimension in attack, as well as scoring some vital goals for the club. What he achieved here will rightly go down in the history books of the club.
“We are disappointed to lose Lee as a player, but part of what we must continue to do here is develop players to help them unlock their potential and see if they can catch the eye of clubs further up the pyramid.
“Lee’s final performance in a Larne shirt against Ballkani last week typified his commitment to the club right up until the last minute.
“Our challenge now is to continue to make progress and other players will get an opportunity to be a part of that process.”
