We are very pleased to announce the signing of defender Baris Altintop, subject to International Clearance, following his departure from Braintree Town.
Baris, 23, arrives at Inver Park having helped Braintree to promotion to the National League last season, captaining the club and being named in the National League South team of the season in the process.
Having begun his career at Bury Town, Baris has also enjoyed spells at King’s Lynn and Dartford before returning to the Braintree and helping them to earn promotion via the playoffs last season.
The English defender is delighted to join the reigning Sports Direct Premiership Champions. He said:
“It was a great feeling to sign for the club.
“I feel like I’m a leader and have tried to lead wherever I’ve been and my aim is to add to what is already here.
“The club have obviously been doing really well and I’m looking forward to getting started with the lads properly.
“I’ve had two seasons at Braintree and now I felt was the right time to try something different, with the full-time environment as well.
“The boys have been excellent with me, the manager has been as well and everyone has been really welcoming to me.”
Supporters can hear Baris’ first full interview on the club’s social media channels on Tuesday night, with the defender having been handed the number 5 shirt for the season ahead.
First team boss Tiernan Lynch is also pleased to make Baris his second signing of the summer window, following Conor McKendry’s arrival last month. He added:
“We’re really pleased to add Baris to our group.
“We had been on the look out for another defender to bring into the squad and having seen Baris up close for the last week, including the game against Bala, he fits in very well with what we are looking for.
“He is coming off the back of a great season at Braintree, which was impressive for both him and the club.
“Baris also comes us having been the captain there at 23 years of age, which says a lot about his character and mentality.”
Larne’s next pre-season outing is Friday’s Charity Shield fixture against Cliftonville at Inver Park, and supporters can buy their tickets HERE.
