We are pleased to confirm that Andy Mitchell has been appointed as the club’s new Technical Director, responsible for overseeing the development of all phases at Inver Park.

The internal promotion will see Mitchell take responsibility for ensuring the continuous development of players within the club’s Professional Development Phase (U18-U20 Scholarship), Youth Development Phase (U13-U16 NIFL/National League), Foundation Development Phase (U6-U12) and SBYL sides.

Mitchell originally arrived at Inver Park from Linfield as part of Tiernan Lynch’s first team squad in January 2020, before transitioning into a coaching role as Head Coach of our U18 side in 2022 as part of the club’s Scholarship Programme.

This season, Mitchell’s U18 side became just the second team in the club’s history to win the Harry Cavan Youth Cup, defeating Crusaders 2-1 at the National Stadium. His side on the night featured Jack Hastings, Jude O’Hara, James Simpson and Callum Cowan, who have all since signed professional contracts at Inver Park under Mitchell’s watchful eye.

Taking up the role as Technical Director, Mitchell will be responsible for continuing to deliver the club’s aims of leading in professionalism and opportunities at academy level in Northern Ireland, which was outlined during last summer’s restructuring.

Discussing his new role, Andy Mitchell commented:

“I am excited about this new chapter for me as the Technical director of the club. The opportunity to develop the best young talent in Northern Ireland is incredibly exciting, and I am ready to make a lasting impact.

“With our facilities and elite infrastructure already in place I firmly believe our academy has everything it needs to become one of the very best on the island in developing people and players.

“By maximising the potential of every player, we will aim produce the next generation of talent who will not only excel for Larne Football Club in Northern Ireland, but across UK and Europe.

“My relationship with our ownership and board, Niall Curneen, Tiernan Lynch and the support coaching staff is already very strong and I will look to use that to maximise the pathway from the academy to the first team. I am grateful for this opportunity and truly excited for the bright future ahead.”
