We are delighted to announce that Ambrose Ajala has signed his first professional contract at the club.
The 18-year-old striker joined the club’s Scholarship Programme last January and has been impressed across both the NIFL U18 and U20 squads on a regular basis over the last year.
Showing impressive form consistently for our development squads, Ajala was given his senior debut by former manager Tiernan Lynch last September, starting against Queen’s University in the First Round of the Co. Antrim Shield. The young striker left a lasting impression, scoring two goals in nine minutes in a 3-0 win for the Invermen.
Under a month later, Ajala was given his second senior appearance in the First Round of the BetMcLean Cup against NIFL Championship side H&W Welders. Ajala once again grabbed his opportunity with both hands, scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory.
Ajala’s most recent senior appearance saw him make his Sports Direct Premiership debut back in February, coming off the bench to play 35 minutes in the 2-0 defeat at Shamrock Park.
Speaking on his delight at Ambrose signing a professional contract at the club, Head of Scholarship Keith O’Hara said:
“Since joining last January, Ambrose has shown his quality both on and off the pitch.
“He’s willing to learn and continually trying to improve, and I have no doubt that he will go on to have a successful career. It’s a proud moment for him and his family.
“Ambrose will be aware that there is plenty of hard work ahead of him but I can’t wait to see how he continues to develop under Nathan and the rest of the senior coaching team.”
