WE are delighted to announce Alex Black has joined the club as a football consultant.
Alex, who works in a similar role at Truro City, arrives at Inver Park after three decades of experience in football.
He will help to oversee all of the football operations at the club going forward as we aim to build on the recent success at the club.
Explaining his role, Alex said:
“This involves working in the background to make sure we get the correct football structure in place at the club.
“We will look at the recruitment and other bits and pieces which can help the manager and players to do their jobs to the best of their ability and drive things forward.
“It doesn’t mean taking over all football matters at the club, that is done as a collective.
“My role is to facilitate what the football department need.
“Whatever knowledge I have, I’m happy to pass it on and do the jobs which help everything to run smoothly on the football side of things.”
Explaining how he came to work with the club, Alex identified his role at Truro City, where he has played a key role in helping the Cornwall club into the National League.
“I knew some of the guys who are part of the new ownership group and they have brought me in to help them navigate the early days of their time at the club,” he added.
“This is a very different project to the one at Truro City. They were very much building from the ground up, that all had to be built.
“Here at Inver Park, there club has been used to success and that comes with different pressures.
“However that also means there are a lot of good things in place, which means we don’t have to fix or change things for the sake of it.”
Having taken time to assess the club in recent weeks, Alex believes his role is to help find a way to build on the foundations already in place.
He added: “We have a winning culture already at the club and an infrastructure, which is good.
“There are a lot of good people here and the real job is to make sure that we always find ways to improve and see how we can get better.
“We have a good squad here. Do we want to want to make it better and move forward? Of course, we always do.”
