Preparation is now well underway for the new Sports Direct Women’s Premiership campaign just around the corner.
As new Head Coach Daniel Carlisle gets to work, we took some time to talk to defender Aimee Nellins as the Inver Women look ahead to their third season in the top-flight.
Kyle McClure: Aimee, your first training session is done and now onto the second, how do you think it has been for you and the team?
Aimee Nellins: It has been a great start for the squad coming back after the break. Daniel and his staff have provided a new lease of life and energy to the club. The girls are smiling and happy. Everyone is happy to be back and excited for what is to come this year. First meeting with Daniel his energy and enthusiasm hit well with the girls. This can only put us in good stead for this year.
KM: For yourself, is there any specific areas of your game you want to improve for this season?
AM: Reaction time for second balls dropping in the box I would say. Training intensity has been fast, high tempo so this should help improve this for me.
KM: How do you feel like the team dynamics are shaping up within the squad as we prepare for our third season in the Premiership?
AM: Team dynamics appear good this year. Even with more changes this year it feels a lot more settled. Players which left last year have come back which is a sign of the potential the club has to offer. Collectively the squad has quality, experience and youth which makes the perfect blend. It is shaping up to be an interesting year. As a club and players, we know we have much more to offer than last season. With Daniel, Helen, and all other staff I’m confident we will achieve our goals.
