We can confirm that goalkeeper Aidan Dowling has joined Cork City on a permanent transfer.

The 21-year-old makes the move to the Turner’s Cross Stadium ahead of upcoming League of Ireland First Division season, having made five appearances for the Invermen after arriving from Blackburn Rovers in the summer transfer window.

First team manager Tiernan Lynch paid tribute to Dowling’s professionalism during his time at Inver Park, and expects the goalkeeper to thrive at his new club:

“Since joining in the summer window, Aidan has shown everyone at Larne that he is a strong young goalkeeper with the professionalism and commitment to have a long and successful career in football.

“Every goalkeeper wants to be number one and we understand that Aidan has had limited game time so far this season, so both parties felt that this move would allow Aidan to progress his career and get more senior minutes under his belt.

“While Aidan’s departure leaves a hole within the goalkeeping area of our squad, we continue to analyse the landscape of the transfer market and expect to announce a signing within this area in due course.

“In the meantime, on behalf of everyone at the club, we wish Aidan all the best on his move and for the rest of his career.”
