We are delighted to announce an exciting new long-term partnership with neighbouring youth academy set-up Glens United FC.

The partnership, which aims to benefit both clubs at academy level, will involve the sharing of resources and ideas, alongside implementing player pathways and coach professional development opportunities.

Founded in 2019 and based in Glenarm/Carnlough, Glens United offer local kids from the Glens of Antrim area the opportunity to take part in weekly training sessions and matches.

Having experienced rapid growth since its established, the club now have over 100 youth players spread across nine academy teams and were named as the IFA North East Region Club of the Year in 2022.

Discussing the partnership, Elite Academy Director Ryan Prentice said:

“We are really pleased to welcome everyone involved with Glens United FC on board as academy partners and look forward to developing this relationship in the coming months and years.

“As a club, our vision is that we are ‘for the town’ and believe that this stretches throughout the traditional Borough of Larne. Through this partnership, we look forward to expanding our outreach into the Glenarm and Carnlough areas, and ultimately supporting Glens United in any way we can.

“This month, we held our first-ever Summer Camp in Glenarm and were delighted with the turnout and enthusiasm of the young players involved. This, accompanied with the great work and rapid growth that Glens United are already experiencing provides a strong starting point for a strong and mutually beneficial relationship.”

Speaking on behalf of Glens United FC, Gary Montgomery added:

“The opportunity to be involved with Larne FC’s academy is one which we are extremely excited about.

“Larne as a club overall is one that’s going in the right direction, and their academy set-up is levelling up rapidly which creates the perfect time for us at Glens United to become involved.

“We believe the partnership will open new doors and pathways for our young players who want to develop and play football long-term, while the resources and experience which Larne has to offer will no doubt benefit our coaches and everyone else involved in a similar fashion.”
