IT was another A-Level results day to celebrate for those involved with the club’s Scholarship Programme last Thursday, with our second-year student athletes scoring a return of 100% A-C grades across the board.
The outstanding results mark the fourth year in a row where those involved in the course have returned 100% A-C results, marking it another progressive year for the class of 2024.
Amongst the students graduating from the course, the highest performing results were returned by Ronan O’Hara and Oscar McClay, who both secured triple distinction stars on results day. Ronan has multiple offers from universities in Liverpool where he will study Business & Sport, while Oscar will continue his studies at the club by enrolling in a Foundation Degree.
Excellent results were also secured by Charlie Redmond, Jude O’Hara, Harrison Knight and Josh Humphries who received two distinction star and one distinction each on Thursday.
In other highlights, Ciaran McDonnell has been accepted into UUJ to do Sports Science and Archie Ahern will continue his studies with university offers in England. Heading to the United States, students Charlie Redmond and Odhran McMurrough have both been offered Scholarships in an exciting new adventure following their time with the club.
Commenting on another year of record-breaking results, SGA Director for Northern Ireland Director Emmett Clerkin commented:
“We are so pleased to be able to report 100% A-C grades for the fourth year running, with many excellent and outstanding individual results amongst our student athletes.
“This follows a summer where we have had several students sign professional contracts at the club and 13 more students spending the summer of their lives in the United States as part of the Challenger Sports Programme.
“The pathways for our students at Larne are incredible and ever growing with education at the forefront of everything we do. Jack [Hastings] and Jude [O’Hara] have signed professional contracts at the club but will join several of their classmates in continuing their education with a Foundation Degree.
“Alongside those staying involved with Larne, we have more students continuing their education at universities both in Northern Ireland and across the UK, alongside Scholarships in the United States.
“Everyone associated with the programme is delighted at the continued results year-on-year, and we look forward to continuing this trend with our next cohort of students.”
